Project Life Saver

Sheriff Loyd Arrington and the Blount County Sheriff's Office is pleased to participate in Project Lifesaver. Project Lifesaver was established in 1999 with a mission to use state of the art technology in assisting those who care for victims of Alzheimer’s disease and other related mental dysfunction disorders and victims who become lost. These victims include the elderly and even the youngest in our community who are afflicted with Down’s Syndrome and Autism. Victims of ARMD tend to wander from their homes.

Project Lifesaver places personalized wrist bands containing radio transmitters on identified persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other related mental dysfunction disorders and victims who become lost. These transmitters emit a constant tracking signal. When a caregiver notifies the Blount County Sheriff’s Office that a participant is missing, specially trained deputies will respond to the wanderer’s area and begin searching. The signal emitted by the wrist band can be tracked on the ground or by aircraft over several miles with a specially designed radio receiver.
This program works the same for every Department/Agency that has the program. If you travel with your loved one, which is in the program, and they wander away from you, the local Project Life Saver program can help locate your loved one.

Currently, there is no cost for your loved one to be covered by the project. All costs are funded by donations. Please print and fill out the questionnaire below.
