Sheriff Loyd Arrington
Sheriff Loyd Arrington began his law enforcement career as an Alabama State Trooper at the age of 21 patrolling the five counties that comprise the Birmingham District. He was later assigned to the Alabama Bureau of Investigation where he rose to the rank of Captain and was the Assistant Chief of the A.B.I. at the time of his retirement in 2007. Sheriff Arrington was appointed Sheriff January 15, 2009 by Governor Bob Riley to complete the unexpired term of the previous Sheriff who resigned his Office.
Sheriff Arrington is committed to protecting the citizens of Blount County while aggressively seeking out crime, and those who would prey on our residents. Sheriff Arrington has devoted his time and efforts to provide a safe environment for the citizens of Blount County to raise families and flourish in a growing community. Being a citizen of Blount County himself, he shares, understands and supports the needs and desires of the citizens in which he resides among.
